We are proud to announce that Mythic Table has been incorporated as a Not-for-profit Society in British Columbia, Canada.

What does this mean?

Since our books are already open, and there is only a trivial amount of revenue, the organization structure requires very little change. However, Mythic Table is now a legal entity apart from its founders. There will be some subtle changes. However, as our philosophy and activity were already closely aligned with the principles and requirements of a BC Society, further changes will be minor.

Why did we do this?

There are several reasons. First, it was essential to making a distinction between Mythic Table and the founders, primarily Marc Faulise. Second, there are many benefits to being non-profit in Canada and online. We qualify for discounts from some of our service providers, and there are differences when handling taxes.

The most important reason is that we want to show that our motives are pure and honest. Marc spoke about this when Mythic Table became open-source and open-books, but going non-profit Is the final part of demonstrating this value. We are dedicated to building the best Virtual Tabletop possible and not to get rich, but to enrich us all. Mythic Table is truly a labor of love for us.

What’s next?

While this is a massive deal for us and we’re super proud, but it doesn’t make a huge difference. We still have just as much work to do, and we still need to get our name out there. We still need to raise enough money to fund the first playable, and we still need help. If you’ve been following us and wondering when you should jump on board, now is the time. If you’re new, read all about us on our website, and if you like what you see, jump in and help out. The following is a shortlist of what we need:

  • Spread the word – Still the highest priority. We’re ¼ the way to the community size we need to fund the first playable.
  • Join our community – If you’re not subscribed to the newsletter, we won’t know who you are or that you like what we’re doing.
  • Help with development – We need;
    • Community managers
    • Artists
    • Designers
    • Programmers
    • Producers
  • Join our Patreon – It’s not much but a few dollars a month will go a long way

Thank you and everyone that has helped so far. We will work hard to earn and keep that faith.
